Dina Hussein is a trained historian with extensive experience as an editor. Before joining al-Shabaka, she was a senior editor at the Alternative Policy Solutions research project at the American University in Cairo. Dina is completing her PhD dissertation on Alexandria’s urban history in the nineteenth century at the University of Melbourne. She tutored several undergraduate courses on the modern Middle East at the University of Melbourne and Georgetown University, where she earned two master’s degrees in Arab studies and history. She was the co-founding opinion editor of Mada Masr, Egypt’s leading independent digital media platform.
