In this third webinar, we debated specifically the silencing of Palestine and Palestinian voices. Though attempts to silence speech on Palestine and Palestinian voices is not new, there has been an intensification of repression across the West, particularly in parts of Europe, the UK and in the US. Some of this occurs though specific tools such as the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance ‘working definition’ of antisemitism (IHRA), which conflates criticism of Israel and Zionism with anti-Jewish racism.

What is politically conditioned funding? How does it impact Palestinian civil society and the Palestinian liberation movement at large?

This webinar has been organized in order to elevate Palestinian scholars as they discuss the stakes of the American Anthropological Association's upcoming vote to boycott Israeli academic institutions.

This webinar highlights the history that led to the Nakba, and the various zionist myths surrounding such history.  It also emphasizes the ins and outs of the Palestinian struggle for justice and liberation, how to use social media as an element of our activism, and Israeli accountability for its crimes against the Palestinian people. Lastly, it assesses U.S. policy in relation to Israel/Palestine and how we can further the cause in the U.S.

With the normalization of relations between Israel and some Arab countries moving at a relatively fast pace, and with the Abraham Accords having taken over a significant proportion of US policy conversations and priorities for the region, there is a great need to provide a detailed and objective assessment of this new policy direction and its potential impacts and implications.

As the first anniversary approaches for Amnesty International’s report on Israel, which concluded that Israel is committing the crime against humanity of Apartheid and is conducting systemic persecution against Palestinians, now is as good a time as ever for the world to be reminded of the content of the report and its various implications, amongst others, on international law, on the duties and obligations of the international community to uphold it, on the struggle for Palestinian self-determination and statehood and the global campaign to stop the ongoing violations of the human rights of Palestinians.

The Jerusalem Fund commemorated International Women’s Day, which the world celebrates annually on March 8th in order to shed light on issues relating to gender and women’s rights, by holding a virtual discussion with Asmaa AbuMezied, an expert in gender and economic justice, on the current realities facing Palestinian women.

In this fourth webinar episode in FMEP and Al Shabaka’s four-part series, Learning and Unlearning Palestine, the panelists explore what allyship and solidarity with the Palestinian liberation struggle has looked like, and what it can and should look like moving forward.
