Article - Jerusalem: Israel's Vision vs. Palestine's Reality

Al-Shabaka is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Palestine-based Policy Fellow Nur Arafeh.

Nur, a development economist, previously worked as an Associate Researcher at the Palestine Economic Policy Research Institute (MAS) and as a Lecturer of Economics at Al-Quds University. She holds a dual BA in political science and economics from Sciences Po University (France) and Columbia University (USA), and an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge (UK).

Nur’s policy brief on Jerusalem was published earlier this year, and she is currently co-authoring a brief on Israeli obstacles to the development of the Palestinian information technology sector.

Al-Shabaka takes this opportunity to thank its first-ever Policy Fellow, Tariq Dana, who is moving into a full-time academic position. Tariq’s policy brief on corruption will be published later this month; he previously tackled the problems of Palestinian capitalism and civil society. We would also like to thank the Heinrich Boell Stiftung for its collaboration in and support of the Al-Shabaka policy fellow program.
