The just-published 2019 Global Go To Think Tank Index (GGTTI) ranked Al-Shabaka in the “Best Think Tank Network” category for the 7th year running.
Al-Shabaka is 35th out of 86 global think tanks in this category, just two spots behind Human Rights Watch and six spots ahead of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. In addition, Al-Shabaka has also maintained its placement in “Top Think Tanks in the Middle East and North Africa,” which it secured last year.
“Al-Shabaka’s ranking in this prestigious report is an indication of its growing influence and reach,” said Board President Nadia Hijab. “The ranking is undertaken by a panel of over 1,796 peer institutions and experts in the media, academic world, and policy sector, so we’re proud of this result and of all the efforts by Al-Shabaka’s staff, board, members, and supporters.”
The Index is the result of the efforts of the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program at the University of Pennsylvania, which has compiled a database of 8,248 think tanks from around the world.
Hijab added, “It is not easy to manage a transnational organization without borders or walls. It has taken dedication and strategic vision to bring Al-Shabaka to where it is today and has enabled us to ensure that there is a Palestinian policy voice in the Arab world, Europe, North America, and beyond. At a time of increased assaults on the rights of the Palestinian people, such a voice is more critical than ever.”
Al-Shabaka: The Palestinian Policy Network was launched in 2010. The only transnational Palestinian think tank, it is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States.
