Abaher El-Sakka is Associate Professor of Sociology and Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Birzeit University. He received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Nantes, where he worked as a researcher and lecturer from 1998 to 2006. Since 2023, Abaher has served as editor-in-chief of Idafat: the Arab Journal of Sociology. He is also the Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Arab Council for the Social Sciences. He is the author of Gaza: A social history under British colonisation, 1917-1947 (Institute for Palestine Studies 2018).
